Dr. Ramfos has an over 23 years’ experience in strategy, structure, management, promotion, and operation of the R&D&I activity in a multi-national corporate environment.
Proven expertise in the conception, acquisition and implementation of R&D&I projects based on state-of-the-art ICT technologies, and the promotion and commercial exploitation of R&D results targeting a wide range of industries and business sectors. Dr. Ramfos has gained considerable experience in implementing R&D&I projects and exploiting R&D results through his participation in numerous projects within the frameworks of ESPRIT, TELEMATICS, ACTS, TEN-ISDN, IMPACT, IST, e-Ten, e-Content and EUMEDIS, Programmes, FP6, CIP, FP7, and H2020 Programmes. His current research interests evolve around Open and Big Data; Cloud Computing; Digital Education; Smart Cities; Transport and Mobility; Secured Society; Factories of the Future; Open Innovation Platforms; Multi-side Market Platforms; and Web Entrepreneurship and Innovation support.
In addition, Dr. Ramfos has been responsible for the provision of high quality, practical, knowledge-based research, advice and management support services to policy makers responsible for putting policy and programmes into practice. Since 2007, Dr. Ramfos has managed several Framework Contracts (FWCs), Specific Agreements, and individual contracts for the provision of Impact Assessment and Evaluation studies for the European Commission in the policy fields of Research, Technology, Innovation, Transport, Energy, and the Environment.
Dr. Ramfos, up to April 1997, held the position of the Senior Consultant in INTRASOFT SA in the area of centralized and distributed database information systems. Dr. Ramfos, up to January 1996, held the position of the Contract and Account Manager in the Marketing Division of Western Europe of INTRASOFT SA. Dr. Ramfos, up to December 1995, held the position of Project Leader in the Technical Division of INTRASOFT SA. Finally, for the period covering June 1986 to December 1990 he held the position of Tutorial and Research Fellow at University of Wales, College of Cardiff, UK.
Dr. Ramfos has several publications in journals, conferences and books. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Sussex, UK, (1983); an MSc in Computing and Statistics from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff, UK, (1985); and, a PhD in the area of Distributed Heterogeneous Databases from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff, (1991).
